school’s out for summer

I stopped by the school I attended for 1st and 2nd grade– Hawthorne Elementary– to take a few pictures.  The school now is one of Louisville’s only bilingual schools.  It was just a regular old school back then.

    It’s really fun to see these pictures. I also went to Hawthorne. I was a student in the first Spanish immersion class that they taught there. While I am VERY far from being fluent in Spanish today, the program was fantastic. In addition to teaching the language, it gave me a real appreciation of Latin American culture and history.
